When Trust member Ally Taylor left these shores to travel round the world in 2004/05, she took her Harry the Haddock along with her and the result was a fantastic collection of photographs of the famous fish at locations as diverse as the Taj Mahal, the Pyramids and TV’s Summer Bay.
Originally we were planning to use the photographs this season, but unfortunately when we came to put the project we had in mind together, there weren’t quite enough Harry pictures to complete it. As a result, the Trust now plans to unleash the “Harry Round the World Calendar” next year in time for the 2007/08 season.

Providing sufficient page sponsorship is in place by the time we go to print, the aim is to produce a full colour, A3 size, month-to-a-page calendar. In order to avoid the Christmas market when there are more calendars in the shops than you can shake a stick at, the “Harry Round The World Calendar” will run from July 2007 to June 2008, meaning that you’ll be able to plan your whole season on the one calendar, including the pre-season friendlies. Now, here’s where you come in. We’d like you to follow Ally Taylor’s example by taking your Harry the Haddocks around the world with you and photographing them in exotic places, unusual or amusing situations or with well-known celebrities. Don’t worry if you’re not going abroad in the near future though, as pictures of the finned wonder touring his native land will also be most welcome. The most interesting, imaginative and/or funny pictures will be chosen to appear along with the best of Ally’s pictures in the calendar next season, so start snapping now. To give us plenty of time to put the calendar together, please have your submissions in by the end of April 2007. We’d prefer them in jpeg format, but if you wish to send in prints, we can always scan them. If your picture is used, you will receive an acknowledgement in the calendar. We also hope to set up an online gallery, so that any pictures not included in the calendar can be viewed on our website. Please email your pictures to

, putting “Harry Round The World” in the subject line. Alternatively you can post them to: Grimsby Town Supporters Trust, (Harry Round The World), P.O. Box 421, Grimsby, DN32 9WL
We also plan to include "on this day in history" information in the calendar - just so long as it isn't historically accurate. We're looking for ideas along the lines of:- 8th April 1992 – Russell Slade’s hair started to fall out
- 12th June 2005 – Ashley Sestanovich failed Anger Management A’ Level
- 30th August 2012 – Glanford Park swallowed whole by giant armadillo.
So if you have any ideas, send them into us at the addresses above, but please keep them short, funny but (fairly) clean and not libellous. Again, you will receive a name check in the calendar if your submission is used. |
