On the plus side, we managed to make money on some of our long-term existing stock, e.g. wristbands, keyrings, t-shirts, fanzines and sunglasses, which we would have otherwise struggled to get anything for, by using both they and items donated to the Trust as prizes.
We also sold a number of greetings cards and Coca Cola shirts (which were donated to us last season, but because GTFC also received a large quantity and were giving them away with season tickets, we felt it was best to hang onto them until we could make something from them) and made a tidy profit selling ice cold drinks (which became very and then fairly cold drinks as the day wore on) to warm punters.
Both the Trust and GTFC also signed up plenty of people in support of the new stadium on the day, but if you still haven’t filled in a form, please remember that you can download one from the “newsletters and docs” section of our website (www.gtst.net). Then just fill it in and send it back to either ourselves or the Club. But don’t delay, as the meeting to decide the stadium’s fate will be taking place next month, so we need your forms back in as soon as possible.
All in all, it was a very successful and enjoyable day’s fundraising and hopefully in the process we managed to raise the Trust’s profile as well as money. We are already looking forward to participating in next year’s Family Fun Day, as well as any other suitable events. So, if you have any suggestions regarding local events where the Trust could run a stall, please email us at

The Grimsby Evening Telegraph’s Family Fun Day will be taking place this Saturday (19th August) and the Supporters Trust will once again be having a stall at the event.
It all kicks off at 11am at the Boating Lake Paddock in Cleethorpes and the Trust will be looking to improve on the £500 plus which we raised at last year’s event.
Having learnt from experience what works well and what doesn’t, we will mainly be concentrating on our prize-every-time Grand Tombola, which proved a big earner last time around. With over a thousand prizes on offer this year, including signed shirts, footballs, t-shirts, sunglasses, bottles of wine, football books, wristbands, keyrings, fanzines, plus hundreds of children’s toys, there really is something for everyone and it only costs a quid to have a go.
There will also be Trust merchandise available on the day, including some fantastic hand-made football-themed greetings cards. These cards were previously on sale in the Club Shop and proved highly popular. There will be both Grimsby Town and general football cards on sale, so whatever team your nearest and dearest support, there should be a card for them and at £1.50 each, they really are a bargain.
Also on the day, you can come down to the stall and sign the petition in support of the new stadium. With a decision due to be made in September, the Club needs as many signatures as possible to emphasise the fact that both the fans and local people in general are in favour of the new stadium at Great Coates. So please visit the GTST stall and put your support in writing.
The GTST stall will be in a prime location, not far from the main stage, activity arena and fun fair, so drop in and see us (and hopefully part with some of your hard-earned!) anytime between 11am and 5pm. You can also check out the GTFC stall at the same time and meet some of the players.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
