SWEET CHARITY!

A charity match between supporters of Grimsby Town and Lincoln City will be played on Saturday 7th March at the Stamford Club, prior to the local derby between their professional counterparts.

With the Blundell Park fixture having now been returned to its original 3pm kick off time, the fans match will get underway at 11am.

The team sheets were swiftly filled following the announcement of the game, so no further players are required, but spectators are welcome.

There will be no admission charge, but bucket collections will be held in aid of the three nominated charities, Cancer Research UK and the clubs’ respective supporters’ trusts, GTST and LCST.

GTST Chairman Dave Otter commented,

"The Grimsby Town Supporters' Trust is delighted to be associated with this excellent initiative, which builds on the solid foundations of Bike to the Bank.

Not only is the game raising money for charity and the two Supporters' Trusts, but it also provides evidence, yet again, that football supporters (whoever they support) are fundamentally decent.

The perceived local rivalry between the two clubs hides the friendships and co-operation that have developed over a number of years between individual supporters and the respective Supporters' Trusts."
