So, the football season is upon us again! Who knows what’s in store for Grimsby Town this time around? One thing’s for certain, we’d all like to see the Mariners fighting for promotion after a positive pre-season. With the Keep The Mariners Afloat campaign ticking along nicely off the pitch and the team looking as if they could be a force in League Two on it, things are looking up at Blundell Park.
During the summer, the Trust has worked hard to organise the Sponsor A Sod initiative which has so far raised over £1,300 for the Keep The Mariners Afloat Campaign. This is a fantastic effort so a big thank you to all those who have purchased a sod. There are still a couple of squares available so if you would like one for yourself or your business, please get in touch with the Trust at

or see the website for further details. Everyone who purchases a square of the Blundell Park pitch receives a certificate of ownership, their name in every matchday programme for this campaign AND entry into a prize draw to win a season ticket for next season! Yes, one person who sponsors a sod will be watching Town for free throughout the 2006/2007 season and it could easily be you!
All members should have received the 3rd edition of In Cod We Trust over the summer. It is the Trust’s intention to produce this newsletter 4 times a year from now on in order to keep members bang up to date with what the Trust is doing.
On Wednesday 24th August, Town go to Pride Park to face Derby County in the League Cup. On Sunday 28th August the Supporters’ Trust will be at the Pride In The Park event to be held at People’s Park, Grimsby. Previous Park Pride events have been a great success and have been attended by some of the players and management giving fans a great chance to meet the team and get autographs. Members of the Trust will on hand to help people sign up at this year’s event so come along to what will be an excellent family day out and join the Trust. A year’s family membership for 2 adults and 2 juniors is only £30!
The Trust will also be in attendance at the Darlington game on Saturday 20th August to recruit more members. You will find the Trust stall between the Pontoon and Lower Smiths stands so come along and we’ll even fill out the membership form for you! Trust merchandise such as wristbands, fantastic black and white scoubies and special Grimsby Town sunglasses will also be available. All membership fees and profits from merchandise go directly to the Keep The Mariners Afloat campaign through the purchase of shares in the club for the supporters.
Finally, the Trust wants to hear from you! What more can the Trust do for you, what would you like to see on the website? Please let us know what you think, your views are always welcome. E-mail your comments to
