Help the newest Trust in England
Written by Crawley Town Supporters Trust

In July 2005, the SA Group, a business owned by brothers Chas and Azwar Majeed, took over Crawley Town Football Club, a Football Conference side which had then just completed its most successful season in its history.

Ten months later the club is on its knees, its reputation in tatters.

After being sold with a zero balance sheet, the SA Group now claim the club, which has gone into administration, has debts of £1.1m, and they also claim that £750,000 of that is owed to ... the Majeed brothers.

Chas Majeed acted as chairman at first until the FA declared that, as an undischarged bankrupt, he was not a fit and proper person to hold such a position.

In their short time in control, the SA Group have:
- sacked the most successful manager in the club's long and proud history
- sacked dedicated office staff
- A tribunal declared four dismissals were illegal and the SA Group failed to even attend the hearings
- the club slashed the wage budget in half and incurred a three-point deduction for bringing the Football Conference into disrepute
- Having gone into administration, the club have also incurred a ten-point penalty for next season
- the financial problems have caused great anguish to players and their young families, as well as to fans
- the club's public relations are at rock bottom, with supporters continually being fed mistruths
- Known SA Group heavies have attempted to threaten a teenage fan who was organising a democratic protest against their regime
- while the players and fans suffer, the Majeeds have purchased a new £350k sports car and announced plans for new nightclubs and restaurants

We urge administrator Rob Sadler of Begbies Traynor to listen to sensible and professional offers from interested potential purchasers of the club.

The club has no future under the SA Group's ownership. Fans will not attend home games, buy merchandise or frequent the bar at the stadium while the Majeeds remain at the club.

Under new ownership, the club could flourish again.

A year ago, Crawley Town was a happy, respected, community club with a sense of pride.

We want our club back.
